| Qualifications: The successful candidate will have journalism college certification and/or related newspaper experience. Digital camera equipment/experience and reliable vehicle are required. Knowledge of QuarkXpress, InDesign and Photoshop an asset. A keen nose for news and a willingness to “go the extra mile” are required in this position, as well as willingness to be a team player and to learn from an experienced staff. |
| Additional Information: The Nipawin Journal produces a weekly tabloidsize newspaper with a circulation of 3,000, plus a weekly regional newspaper (The Northeast Sun) with a circulation of about 27,000. As well, regular supplements are included in the production schedule — making for a busy and fulfilling opportunity for any experienced or aspiring reporter eager to tackle a combination of hard news, community news and features. | Qualifications: Overseeing a staff of seven, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Hinton operation, including Sales, Editorial, Circulation/Distribution and Production. Maintaining a strong profile in the business community will be a key part of this role. The successful candidate should have a solid management background, ideally in weekly newspapers, with a strong grounding in advertising sales preferred. The Hinton branch works closely with sister publications in Edson and other west central publications in the Yellowhead group in Alberta so a team player will succeed in this role. The position reports directly to the Group Publisher for the Yellowhead Group. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. |
